Cosplay is a hobby usually practiced by young people, which consists of dressing up as your favorite characters from cartoons, comics, series, films and the whole vast universe of entertainment, in order to go to pop culture events, do photo shoots or participate in contests.
Although it started in the USA, in 1939, it was in Japan that this practice gained notoriety, with the Japanese being responsible for the term Cosplay, a combination of the English words costume and play.
cosplay: big people play
At first, for many who do not know, the hobby may seem exotic. However, as we go deeper into the cosplay universe, we discover that its practitioners are ordinary people just like anyone else. The only difference is that they like to bring fictional characters to reality.
That’s what happens to the 18-year-old model from Paraná, Débora Fuzeti. It was in 2009 that she started cosplaying and hasn’t stopped since. “Since I was a little girl, I liked to dress up, I didn’t wear ‘normal clothes’, I was always dressed as a princess or a ballerina, that was my wardrobe. When I found out about cosplayers I thought it would be fun ”, she says.
The young woman who has already participated in the official disclosure video for CBLOL (Brazilian League of Legends Championship) assembled as the character of the game Morgana, reveals that this is the cosplay she most likes to do. “It has already given me many opportunities, things, friends and prizes. It certainly has a special space.”

Regarding the making of clothes, Fuzeti says that from the beginning he does all the work, but always gets help. “I like challenges a lot when I’m going to do cosplay , I want something that I have fun doing and not just using, for example, different makeup, weapons. Anyway, laborious things.” The final price of everything varies, since she makes the clothes herself.
The life of a cosplayer is not easy. It requires time, money, skill. But in the end, what pays off is the fun in the whole process. “If you’re going to start now, get a simpler character, and don’t forget that cosplay is for fun, first of all,” advises Débora.
